The Public Relations & Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and supporting projects and activities related to all public relations, communications, influencer engagement and community outreach. This candidate will work closely with internal teams as well as external vendors and media personnel to find new and exciting ways to continually build the brand narrative while also highlighting major moments and announcements. This candidate will also be responsible for implementing PR and Brand Marketing programs and publicity campaigns to support the Company’s goals.


  • Execute a measurable PR strategy that aligns with the Company’s business goals by collaborating across teams to gather information, formulate strategies, and draft materials
  • Managing relationships with external PR agencies and relevant vendors, and overseeing execution of assigned work and prioritization of projects
  • Pitch and secure positive media stores on a regular basis; generates top tier media coverage in multiple outlets – TV, consumer print, online, etc.
  • Communicate with media, partners, vendors and suppliers daily
  • Evaluate journalists and continuously develop creative story ideas to pitch to the media
  • Create opportunities for thought leadership across transitional and non-traditional media outlets
  • Responsible for ongoing and new trade show relationship building to source panel/ speaking opportunities
  • Create and foster lasting relationships with relevant local media, and maintain ongoing dialogue in order to gain leads and opportunities for the Company
  • Responsible for posting and management of all Matthews™ social media platforms and staying current with all trends to improve customer experience, drive sales and leverage ongoing customer involvement.
  • Responsible for sending out all social media campaigns/ blitzes
  • Create, manage and push all brand awareness on social media
  • In charge of setting up, and conducting all press-releases
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing all potential crisis that may arise on the Public Relations and Communications front
  • Monitor PR budget and expenses as well as updating and maintaining PR exposure valuation reports


  • Must have at least a bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field
  • Must have at least 5-8 years Public Relations/ Corporate Communications experience
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience generating high visibility media coverage
  • Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills


  • MBA or a Master’s degree in Communications/ Public Relations is preferred
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately capture data and trends and ability to communicate the results efficiently to all levels within an organization
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and manage several time-sensitive projects at once in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
  • Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion. Effective team player who can lead efforts across disciplines.
  • Excellent creative and visual skills, knowledge of how PR fits into the larger marketing communications matrix
  • Ability to quickly analyze and contextualize information, and adapt gracefully as circumstances warrant
  • An enthusiastic, creative, and resourceful person who has the ability to perform under pressure
  • Someone with a high level of professional integrity and confidentiality
  • Preferred if candidate already has an established media contacts within the Commercial Real Estate industry


  • Must be willing to work out of the El Segundo Corporate office at least twice a week
  • Must be willing to travel at least 15-20% of the time to other offices and to meet with clients as needed
