UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Smeal College of Business has named Matthew Wallace as the newest member of the college’s Institute for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board Executive Committee. Wallace, a 2006 Smeal management graduate, is the new market leader for the Cleveland office of Matthews Real Estate Investment Services™. He has more than 10 years of experience in real estate transactions. At Matthews™, Wallace will enhance and oversee business development in the Midwest region and manage the Cleveland office. He will also help recruit top talent to an expanding firm.

 

Prior to joining Matthews™, Wallace worked as the vice president of transactions at Chase Properties, a Cleveland-based private equity firm. During his tenure, he completed more than $250 million in transactions, built out a new company-wide asset management system and launched the company’s first institutional joint venture.

 

Prior to Chase Properties, Wallace led East Coast acquisitions and dispositions for DDR, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, where he completed more than $1 billion in transaction volume during his tenure.

 

The IRES Advisory Board includes business, government, and education professionals who have an interest in promoting and financially supporting the real estate programs at Smeal. The board focuses on creating opportunities to enhance student educational experiences and support leading-edge research on real estate issues.

 

Wallace will attend his first IRES Advisory Board meeting on Friday.
