Capital Markets September 2024 Rate Sheet

As we move into September 2024, attention is increasingly focused on the upcoming Non-Farm Payrolls (Jobs and Unemployment) Report. Weakening indicators could prompt a stronger demand for more significant Fed rate cuts in the near future. With summer behind us, we anticipate greater volatility in the stock market as the U.S. elections approach.

In real estate, activity has notably picked up as sellers re-enter the market after a sluggish summer.

Key economic data will be released this week.  All eyes are on the labor statistics and it’s outcome which could influence whether the Federal Reserve opts for a 25 or 50 basis point rate cut. Recent data from August has already heightened concerns about a potential hard landing for the U.S. economy, adding to market uncertainty and volatility.
