Matthews™ Completes Sale of Daycare Center Business and Real Estate

Kids R Kids Center Sold

 

Olathe, KS — Matthews Real Estate Investment Services™, a commercial real estate investment services and technology firm, completed the sale of Kids r Kids, a daycare center located at 1585 S Mahaffie Cir, Olathe, KS. The deal closed for $5,775,000. Matthews™ Associate Matthew Gibbs and Vice President and Director Clay Smith represented the seller in the transaction.

 

The deal included both the business and underlying real estate of the property. The building, built in 2017, totals 18,000 square feet on a 2.42-acre lot.

 

“Utilizing our marketing platform and local market knowledge we were able to close $1 million over what the sellers has previously been offered off market in 2023,” Gibbs said. “Our client has owned the business for over 20 years and was looking to retire. It was great to be able to get this deal across the finish line for them as they close this chapter.”

 

The buyer, Maryland-based Kiddie Academy, was looking to expand into the Kansas City market. The daycare franchise group currently operates in 41 states. Kids r Kids will be the first Kansas asset for the company, who plan to continue to operate it as a daycare center.

 

“Given the high labor and construction costs, building a daycare center is costly. Plus, securing a strong customer base and enrollment rate can take years,” Smith said. “With this deal, Kiddie Academy was able to acquire a fully established center while also establishing their footprint in Kansas.”
