Matthews™ Deepens New York Presence as Key Service Lines Scale

NEW YORK, NY—Matthews™ has continued to scale its New York presence, growing agent headcount by 26% over the past year while strengthening its specialized practices. Across the broader New York platform, Matthews™ generated nearly $1 billion in transaction volume across investment sales, leasing, and financing in the first half of 2026. The expansion is particularly evident in retail leasing and capital markets, two divisions that have gained significant scale alongside the firm’s established investment sales business and are contributing to a more diversified New York platform.
Capital Markets Extends the Platform
First Vice President Andrew Marcus, a local debt and equity specialist, established the New York office’s capital markets division in 2024 to create a dedicated financing presence in the market. Two years later, the division has grown by 400%.
That growth has translated into scale beyond the five boroughs, with more than $100 million in financing arranged across over 40 deals in more than 20 states in the first half of 2026. By year-end, the division is expected to close more than 70 deals, with financing volume projected to surpass $300 million.
A key transaction was the $26.72 million financing for Stony Creek Marketplace, a fully leased, 196,810-square-foot Class A shopping center in Noblesville, Indiana. Anchored by leading national retailers and drawing more than 4.8 million annual visits, the property represents the caliber of assets the New York-based division is financing as its reach continues to grow nationally.
Retail Leasing Builds Momentum
Vice President Matt Fogel joined the New York office in Q3 2025 as its first retail leasing hire, expanding the office’s capabilities across landlord and tenant representation across the city’s highly nuanced retail market. A year later, the firm’s New York division has seen a 400% increase in retail leasing experts.
The expansion is translating directly into production. In the first half of 2026, the retail leasing and advisory division has successfully arranged dozens of leases on behalf of both Landlords and Tenants in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
One Platform, More Ways to Advise
As Matthews™ continues to expand its New York footprint, Executive Managing Director and National Director Cory Rosenthal views the growth of these specialized practices as both a reflection of the platform’s evolution and a foundation for what comes next.
“What we’ve built in New York over the last few years is only the beginning,” said Rosenthal. “This is one of the most complex, competitive real estate markets in the world, and clients need a platform that can move across investment sales, leasing, and financing without missing a beat. That’s exactly what we’re building here.”
That momentum is also reflected in Matthews™’ current pipeline, which includes several high-profile opportunities across New York. Among the firm’s current listings are 137 W 19th Street, 923-937 Second Avenue, 1169 Hoe Avenue, and 43 West 8th Street.
