Matthews™ Delivers Broad-Based Growth in H1 2026 Amid Tech Expansion

NASHVILLEMatthews™, a commercial real estate investment services and technology firm, ended the first half of 2026 with strong momentum across its national platform, driven by increased transaction activity, strategic market expansion, and continued investment in talent and infrastructure.

During the first six months of 2026, transaction volume and deal count across investment sales, leasing, and debt financing increased nearly 34% year-over-year, outpacing the single asset investment sales market, which grew 15% over the same period. The firm’s momentum was fueled by exceptional performances across the firm’s retail and healthcare service lines.

Matthews™’s in-house intelligence CRM, Artemis, reached new heights during the first half of the year, further advancing the firm’s vision for a smarter approach to client advisory. Artemis combines proprietary commercial real estate intelligence with AI, giving agents real-time data, market insights, and workflow execution in a single connected ecosystem, enabling them to deliver more strategic, data-driven advisory tailored to each client’s investment objectives. Backed by a 220% increase in the firm’s engineering division since 2022, Matthews™ continues expanding its in-house technology capabilities and investing in the future of AI-driven brokerage.

Matthews™ increased agent headcount by 25% during the first half of the year, further strengthening its executive leadership through several strategic hires. Among the additions were Tom Gammino and Clint Olsen in New York, Nick Lore in Charlotte, Austin Sweet in St. Louis, Francisco Nacorda in Fort Lauderdale, and Bryce Smith in Dallas.

Sector Performance and Transaction Spotlights

Matthews™ posted broad-based gains in H1 2026, supported by strong investor demand and double-digit transaction volume growth across every region. Industrial ranked as the firm’s largest sector by transaction volume, while healthcare emerged as one of the firm’s fastest-growing sectors, up 135% year-over-year. New office openings in Charlotte and Washington, D.C., along with an expanded presence in New York, further strengthened the firm’s presence in some of the nation’s fastest-growing markets.

“When the market slowed, most firms pulled back. They cut platform, cut people, cut investment. We did the opposite. We kept building, kept hiring, and kept putting capital into the technology and infrastructure that make our agents better advisors,” said President David Harrington. “Now the market is showing signs of life, and the results speak for themselves. Growing nearly 34% and outpacing the broader market is not luck. It is the payoff for playing offense while everyone else played defense. Our agents have more tools and more support than at any point in our history, and our clients are the ones who benefit most.”

Moving into the second half of the year, Matthews™ remains committed to recruiting top industry talent, expanding service lines into key growth markets, and delivering specialized investment sales, leasing, and capital markets solutions across the country. Technology will remain central to that growth, with Artemis continuing to evolve through expanded AI-powered automation, intelligent workflows, and enhanced platform capabilities that further streamline execution and empower agents.

“The firms that win in commercial real estate will be the ones that put the best technology directly into their brokers’ hands. With Artemis, we’ve built an AI-native platform from the ground up, one that helps our agents move faster, serve clients better, and scale into new markets without losing the personal expertise that sets Matthews apart,” said Duerk Brewer, Chief Operations Officer. “We’ve also made a big investment in our tech division, including the recent addition of Quinn Finney as our new VP of AI and Engineering. That combination of technology and talent is what we’re building on, and I’m really looking forward to the next six months and beyond.”
